TRANSGRESSIONS

Transgressions is a fictional story set in the late 2010-era United States, most specifically the California Bay Area. The story is queer, furry, and quite often incredibly sad.

The story follows Vect, a mink who runs a bar and nightclub in the East Bay called Transgressions. Vect endeavors to ensure that the club is a safe haven for anyone and everyone who might seek refuge there, and in fact, the upper floors above the nightclub have been converted into comfortable living spaces to accommodate a sort of commune. However, along with Vect, all of the residents (and most of the patrons) of Transgressions harbor a deep secret that they both nurture and hide.

Meanwhile, Vect and all her allies are consistently hounded by the Apex Alliance, a paramilitary group headed by the enigmatic and cold Andrew Remmington. Remmington and the Alliance seem focused entirely on the murder and destruction of Vect and those they identify as part of her cadre. The crux of the series focuses on Vect's conflict with Remmington, and the secrets they reveal throughout their clash.

It is a story about queer hardship and suffering. But more importantly, it is a story about perseverance in the face of unfair, insurmountable odds.

Full disclosure: Transgressions is a spin off series that picks up where a very, very old line of fiction left off. The original fiction was conveyed via in-character livejournal, some decades ago. While the events and characters from that series are preserved in Transgressions, it is written with an assumption that the reader has zero foreknowledge.

Content Warnings for the series overall: Violence, Gore, Cruelty, Transphobia, Suicide, Nudity, Sexual Contact, Intercourse, Body Modification, Transformation, Foul Language, Gender Exploration and Discussion.

"Christ," Vect muttered low to herself, juggling the tote bag from one hand to the other. She'd been knocking for ten minutes at this point. All things considered, Vect wondered if it would be best to just give up. Either she wasn't home at all, or else (and very likely) she didn't want to talk to anyone. Least of all talk to Vect. The smart thing to do would be to leave the bag on the doorstep for her and just head home.

But still. Vect had to try. Goddamn it, someone had to try. Alexis deserved that, at absolute minimum.

"Alexis? Are you there?" Vect's knuckles struck against the door in quick succession, "It's Vect."

"I just want to make sure you're alright. I promise."

"Commander, I'm just saying we've incurred some heavy losses lately," Clayton Harven tried his best to choose his words carefully. "This is the third... incident... in as many months. If this keeps up, eventually morale is going to collapse."

Clayton knew this wasn't true. After all, it hadn't just been the past three months. It had been happening regularly for years and years. Since before he could remember. And yet somehow, morale never seemed to suffer for it. Of course, that wasn't to say that morale was abnormally high, or that it was exceptionally low. Morale just... was. Even in the wake of impressive success, or in the face of deeply painful loss, no one on the roster seemed to care much about such events. They had enthusiasm for the work, at points even passion - But Clayton wasn't so ignorant as to believe they held pride in their institution. They truly seemed to have no concern for anything but carrying on, fulfilling expectation, and of course, fighting the enemy.

"So recruit more," Remmington's voice cut through Clayton's thoughts abruptly. "Are you, or are you not, the Captain of this organization?"
